Chevrolet Captiva Service & Repair Manual: Description & Operation
The air bag system helps supplement
protection offered by the driver and front passenger seat belts by deploying
air bag modules from center of steering wheel, passenger instrument panel,
front and rear sides of seats, sides of roof panel and driver and passenger
knee air bags. The air bags will deploy when the vehicle is involved in
a crash of sufficient force up to 30° off vehicle centerline. |
In addition to air bag module,
certain vehicles may contain seat belt pretensioners that tighten seat belt
in event of a collision, thus reducing distance between occupant and seat
belt when an air bag module is deployed. |
