For vehicles with the Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS), this light comes on briefly when the engine is started. It provides information about tire pressures and the TPMS.
When the Light Is On Steady
This indicates that one or more of the tires are significantly underinflated.
A Driver Information Center (DIC) tire pressure message may also display. See Tire Messages on page 5-34. Stop as soon as possible, and inflate the tires to the pressure value shown on the Tire and Loading Information label. See Tire Pressure on page 10-44.
When the Light Flashes First and Then Is On Steady
If the light flashes for about a minute and then stays on, there may be a problem with the TPMS. If the problem is not corrected, the light will come on at every ignition cycle.
See Tire Pressure Monitor Operation on page 10-47.
Tire Pressure Light on a Chevrolet Captiva 2012 is an important indicator within the vehicle's Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). This light alerts the driver when one or more tires have significantly low pressure, which can affect driving safety and vehicle performance.
When the Tire Pressure Light illuminates on the dashboard, it typically appears as an exclamation mark inside a tire cross-section symbol. Upon seeing this light, drivers should promptly check the tire pressure of all four tires using a reliable tire pressure gauge.
If any tire's pressure is below the manufacturer's recommended level, inflate it to the proper pressure as specified in the owner's manual or the tire information label located on the driver's door jamb. Maintaining the correct tire pressure is crucial for ensuring optimal handling, fuel efficiency, and tire lifespan.
After adjusting the tire pressures, the TPMS should reset automatically once the vehicle is driven for a few miles. If the light remains on or flashes, it may indicate a malfunction in the TPMS, and professional inspection may be necessary.
Regularly monitoring and maintaining correct tire pressure helps prevent premature tire wear, improves fuel efficiency, and enhances overall driving safety in the 2012 Chevrolet Captiva.
